When is the Application Period for a Scholarship Award?

The Class of 2019 Application period will run from December 1, 2018 through February 1, 2019.  See Scholarship Application to download an application.

What are the Requirements to Apply for a Scholarship Award?

 Minimum eligibility requirements:

  1. You must complete a Scholarship Application and meet all requirements and deadlines.
  2. You must be a resident of the Santa Clarita Valley.
  3. You must have attended at least the 11th and 12th grades in the William S. Hart Union High School District (Academy of the Canyons, Bowman, Canyon, Golden Valley, Hart, Hart@Home, Learning Post, Saugus, Sequoia, Valencia, or West Ranch).
  4. You must be graduating with the Class as indicated on the Application Form.
  5. You must have at least a 2.0 GPA and plan to continue your education. You must be in full compliance with the William S. Hart Unon High School District Student Rights and Responsibilities Summary.
  6. You must provide a typed essay of approximately 350 words addressing the writing prompt that appears on the Scholarship Application Form for the year you are graduating.
  7. If selected as a recipient, you will be expected to write a thank-you/acknowledgment letter to the donor.

When are Scholarship Awards Announced?

The names of  scholarship recipients are announced during District High School Senior Award Ceremonies and/or Graduation Ceremonies held annually in May and June. 


How do I Claim a Scholarship Award?

To claim a scholarship award, first download the SCVSF Check Request Form which must be completed and included with each request for payment.

 

To Receive Your First Scholarship Award, submit the following 3 items:

    #1: Completed Check Request Form ( SCVSF CHECK REQUEST FORM)

    #2: Current college class schedule showing at least 12 units (Student name and school name must be on the class schedule )

    #3: Personal thank-you letter or note written to your sponsor. The SCVSF will take care of getting your thank you note to your sponsor. 

  
To Receive Your Second and/or Subsequent Payment, submit the following 3 items:
    #1: Completed Check Request Form 

     #2: Current class schedule showing enrollment in at least 12 units  

    #3: A copy of the previous term's grades (2.0 GPA minimum)
